Valparaiso, IN — HealthLinc has started distributing COVID-19 vaccinations to Indiana residents and those who work in Indiana who are 70 years or older, first responders or healthcare workers. Eight HealthLinc clinics (Centennial, East Chicago, Knox, La Porte, Michigan City, Mishawaka, Southeast and Valparaiso) currently have a limited supply of the Moderna vaccine and are scheduling appointments.
“We are excited to finally begin COVID-19 vaccinations for our patients and communities,” states Beth Wrobel, HealthLinc CEO. “It is a giant step towards stopping the virus, especially in underserved areas where it has had a devastating impact on our most vulnerable citizens.”
COVID-19 vaccinations are given by appointment only. Anyone who wants to get the vaccine can put their name on the COVID-19 appointment request list found on the HealthLinc website at www.healthlincchc.org. Those who are eligible will be called to schedule an appointment. Those who are not yet eligible to be vaccinated will be put on a waitlist and called when they become eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
“While appointments are filling up quickly at some of our clinics, there is availability at other HealthLinc locations if patients, such as East Chicago, meeting the requirements are willing to travel,” continues Wrobel. “We want to use every dose and vaccinate as many people as possible.”
