Dental Assistance Training Program
HealthLinc is offering a Dental Assistant Training Program to expand access to dental health care by training its future leaders in the healthcare community.
Students who join HealthLinc’s Dental Assistant Training Program gain hands-on, on-the-job learning and experience in our primary care clinics throughout northern Indiana. Our small class size allows students to have the support they need during the program. In just four months, students will receive the knowledge needed to advance their future in a high-demand job.
- To provide educational opportunities for career advancement in the dental assisting field
- Enable graduates to gain the competencies, skills, productivity and knowledge to assist as an entry-level dental assisting professional
- Offer debt-free education through a dental assisting training program. Note: book and supply fees are deducted from pay
- Increase the number of dental assistants within the HealthLinc organization as well as our communities
- 4-month program, totaling 288 externship hours with lectures and on-site experiences, including introduction to dental assisting and dental terminology, materials and procedures and patient care management
- Homework is estimated at 5-10 hours per week, depending on each student’s pace
- 24 hours a week of on-site clinical experience at a HealthLinc clinic
- 16 hours a week for lecture and skills practice at our new corporate training center with a HealthLinc dental instructor
- Preparation for DANB Radiology Test
- A 4-month program with lectures and on-site experiences, including an introduction to dental assisting and dental terminology, materials and procedures and patient care management
- Homework is estimated at 5-10 hours per week
- Reliable transportation to training and clinics
- 16 hours a week for lecture and skills practice at our training center with a HealthLinc dental instructor
- Proficient in verbal and written English
- Must be able to work full-time (maximum of 40 hours)
- Must sign a 2-year mandatory employment agreement
- COVID-19 vaccination or a medical or religious exemption

- Participate in a phone interview with the dental instructor
- Attend an in-person interview with HealthLinc’s dental educator and site operations director
- Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

The Dental Assistant Training Program tuition costs $7,350, which is paid for by HealthLinc. Tuition includes all necessary program fees, including textbooks, equipment, CPR certification, immunizations, American Dental Assistant Association student members and Radiology examination with DANB (first attempt only).
