In response to the on-going opioid and substance abuse epidemic in Northern Indiana, HealthLinc announces the appointment of Mimi E. Gardner to fill the newly created Chief Behavioral Health Officer position.  Gardner will be responsible for guiding the behavioral health care initiatives of HealthLinc and its providers.  From February 2017 through June 2018 she served as the Vice President of Accountability and Provider Relations at Behavioral Health Systems of Baltimore, where she participated in a statewide Opioid Treatment Workgroup which focused on addressing access to care, best practices in treatment and recovery.

Mimi E. Gardner has a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Chicago.  She has significant knowledge and experience in the behavioral health field with the ability to be creative and innovative with underserved populations.

She served as the Chief Clinical Officer for Green Door Behavioral Health and as President and CEO of Capital Community Services in Washington D.C., an outpatient community mental health center where she was responsible for the oversight, supervision and quality assurance of all clinical services.  She frequently analyzed program deficits and created solutions for improved outcomes to meet state measures.

“After an extensive search, Mimi Gardner stood out as the most qualified candidate,” states Beth Wrobel, Chief Executive Officer.  “Her experience at the county, state, and federal level in overseeing and directing initiatives, along with her skill for developing and implementing inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance abuse programming will be a great asset for HealthLinc patients and communities.”

Gardner has professional roots in Northwest Indiana having previously served as Vice President for Geminus Corporation in Merrillville, IN where she oversaw all clinical programs serving youth and families, including the development of a community-wide child abuse prevention network.
