- Applying for Health Coverage will not affect an ongoing application for U.S. citizenship.
- Regardless of your immigration status you may still be eligible to receive Emergency Health Coverage.
- You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP). Eligibility is based on household income and household size.
- If you have children, your citizenship does not affect their application for Health Coverage. If your children are U.S. citizens, they may still be eligible for full coverage.
- If your household income is too high to qualify for the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP), your children may still be eligible for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
- If you are found eligible for the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP), you will not have to make any monthly payments until December 31.
- If you are not eligible for the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP), you may still be able to receive Health Coverage through the Marketplace.
- Open Enrollment for Marketplace is November 1 – December 15. However, you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period which would allow you to apply and receive Health Coverage outside of Open Enrollment.
- If you need immediate Health Coverage and meet the eligibility requirements under the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP), a Navigator may be able to process a Presumptive Eligibility Application for you. This would allow you temporary coverage.
- If you have Medicare coverage, you may also be eligible for additional Medicaid coverage.
