Valparaiso, IN – HealthLinc will host annual community health fairs at area clinics from July 22 through August 6.  Each year, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) dedicates time to recognizing community health centers throughout the country.

This year’s theme, “Lighting the Way for Community Health Centers, Today and in the Future,” highlights the important role that health centers have in providing access to affordable, high-quality, cost-effective health care to the medically vulnerable and underserved in our communities.

Due to COVID-19, the format of the events has changed to ensure the safety and well-being of patients, communities and staff. Visits to the health fairs are scheduled to maintain social distancing, allow time for cleaning, and follow other protocols for the comfort and safety of everyone.

The events still have a back-to-school focus, and families coming to the health fairs will receive a backpack with school or health supplies (while supplies last) to help them get the school year off to a great start. In addition, we will have appointments available for well-child checkups, and sports physicals (provided at no cost for uninsured children).

“Our annual community health fairs are signature events providing low-cost and no-cost check-ups for the kids in our communities and we have made plans to continue this service in the safest way possible,” states Beth Wrobel, CEO.  “In addition to the much-needed healthcare services, these events also provide back-to-school supplies which will be needed at school or in the home should online education need to continue.”
