HealthLinc, a federally qualified health center, opened a new clinic in Newton County located at the Morocco Senior Nutrition & Activity Center (102 E. State St., Morocco, IN 47963). The clinic will offer vital health services to the Newton County community and surrounding areas.
Newton County, a rural area designated by the Health Resources and Services Administration, is located just south of Lake County in Northwest Indiana. It is recognized as a health professional shortage area and will benefit from greater access to affordable, quality care.
“HealthLinc is committed to increasing access to quality care in rural and underserved areas,” said Melissa Mitchell, HealthLinc CEO. “We’re excited to serve the people of Newton County and provide affordable, patient-centered care that supports whole-person health.”
HealthLinc Newton will provide comprehensive family medicine services through family nurse practitioner-led care, ensuring that patients of all ages receive personalized, accessible health care close to home.
Initially, the clinic will operate on a four-day schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Expanded hours may be considered based on community needs.
HealthLinc Newton will accept a variety of coverage options, including Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial insurance plans, as well as those without insurance. Additionally, HealthLinc can provide health insurance enrollment assistance for programs such as Medicaid, Medicare and Marketplace.
“Rural communities often lack accessible healthcare resources. With financial and transportation challenges creating insurmountable barriers, many of our neighbors go years without basic preventive care, which can lead to more serious health issues,” states Brienne Hooker, Executive Director, Jasper Newton Foundation, Inc. “Providing grant funds to expand HealthLinc’s services in our rural community may be one of the most impactful things we have recently granted to.”
More details about the opening and community outreach events will be shared in the coming months.
