Pharmacy Residency Program Director

HealthLinc is a Federally Qualified Health Center and Patient-Centered Medical Home Level 3, where there is a multi-disciplinary approach to patients. Besides pharmacy residents, there are nurse practitioner residents and P4 pharmacy students on site. The pharmacy resident has the opportunity to work under collaborative practice agreements with multiple disease states. A mental health rotation can be set up if the resident has an interest. The resident completes teaching certificate requirements at Purdue University.

The HealthLinc Pharmacy Residency Program is a PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Residency with a focus in ambulatory care. The resident will be exposed to direct patient care with diabetes, anticoagulation, dyslipidemia, and hypertension being the primary disease states encountered. The medication distribution learning experience is completed at HealthLinc in-house pharmacies. The residency partners with Purdue University for the teaching, research, and drug information components.

Universal Residency Program Purpose

“Having the opportunity for strong interdisciplinary teamwork was what drew me to HealthLinc most. The strong environment of collaboration leads to optimal patient care and was something I wanted to be a part of. I feel that I have been a valuable part of the patient care team, and that I’m surrounded by coworkers that put patients first. The mentorship and support that I have been granted from the pharmacy team has allowed me to gain more confidence and develop as an effective caregiver.”

Henry Papineau

HealthLinc Valparaiso Pharmacy Resident

“I was drawn to this program because of their mission, vision, and values. HealthLinc works endlessly to hold true to these core aspects, and the work that they do for our population is inspiring. The HealthLinc staff is truly one of a kind. As the first pharmacy resident at the Mishawaka clinic, I was immediately welcomed and integrated into the healthcare team. The providers we work with are receptive to our suggestions and greatly value the pharmacy team. This allows us to work together to provide exceptional health care and focus on what truly matters, the patient.”

Kristen Bessler

HealthLinc Mishawaka Pharmacy Resident

"Great employees, nice, clean environment. Love it when they find ways to help those with low or no income. Every little bit helps so much and they sometimes have contests or promotions to help you help yourself. I am entered to win a Kindle because I had a PAP done. How awesome is that?"

"My doctor is wonderful. He takes his time and I never feel rushed. I am always in the room on time and out within a reasonable time."

"First time and I was absolutely impressed. Had a dental emergency and no insurance. HealthLinc went above and beyond my expectations. Ended up having 5 teeth pulled that have been bothering me for years. No other dentist would even touch them because I had no dental insurance. I can honestly say I was very impressed and thankful to finally have decent care at a decent price."

"I love HealthLinc! Service is always fast and friendly. Nurses and doctors are wonderful! I refer HealthLinc to all my friends!"

"Comfortable atmosphere, sliding scale payments with good physicians that care. They truly care about the patients and go above and beyond to help. I went to HealthLinc before having insurance, but still go here now that I do because I enjoy them that much. I would recommend to anyone seeking general medical help."

"I have had nothing but caring doctors and dentist here for my child. On her first dentist apt. they were very understanding and patient with my child who was afraid and comforted her very well. The doctor was amazing and I'm happy she's my daughter's new family physician."

"When we lost our health insurance I panicked, but a HealthLinc Navigator was there to help. She held my hand through the entire process and made sure I was taken care of. In a time of such uncertainty, she made me feel confident that we would be OK. "
