HealthLinc Hosts Ribbon-Cutting Event for New Mobile School-Based Health Center

HealthLinc celebrates its newest site addition—a mobile school-based health center—on March 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Congressman Pete Visclosky and East Chicago Mayor Anthony Copeland.

“We are excited to celebrate our new mobile school-based health center in East Chicago,” said HealthLinc CEO Beth Wrobel. “We know that access to proper medical, dental, and behavioral health care is challenging for families struggling to find affordable care. By bringing our resources as a community health center to a school-based mobile health center, we will be able to reduce that barrier.”

HealthLinc received a grant through the Affordable Care Act to purchase a mobile school-based health center (MSBHC) with medical, dental, and behavioral health capabilities. The MSBHC allows HealthLinc to reach children and families with limited access to care and lack of transportation in their own backyard.

“The physical and mental health of Northwest Indiana children is a priority. The mobile health center helps achieve this by bringing our young people one step closer to the quality and accessible health care that they deserve. I commend Beth Wrobel and all of the dedicated staff of HealthLinc, Inc. for their commitment to serving the region,” Congressman Pete Visclosky said.

“East Chicago is blessed with a wonderful opportunity for those who are without transportation. We look forward to working with HealthLinc as they bring services to our residents and wish them continued success with their innovative efforts of delivering health care in the City of East Chicago” said Mayor Anthony Copeland.

For more information about the mobile school-based health center, please contact Brandi Anstine, development director, at 219-462-7173.
